Terms of Service

1. Service description

Stelae provides a private WordPress editor environment for building websites. The editor is not a publicly accessible website. You may export your content as a static site and auto-deploy it via git push (to any git host), Cloudflare Workers, or download the archive and host it anywhere.

You must provide a valid email address. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. One person may hold one account. Accounts are not transferable.

4. Pricing and payment

• The service costs €19.90 per site per year, billed annually in advance.
• Payment is via SEPA Direct Debit (EU) or card (non-EU), processed by Mollie B.V.
• No VAT is charged (Kleinunternehmerregelung, § 19 UStG).
• We may change prices with 30 days notice. Existing subscriptions are honored until renewal.

5. Right of withdrawal (Widerrufsrecht)

If you are a consumer in the EU, you have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period expires 14 days after the day the contract is concluded (i.e., when your first payment is confirmed).

To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must inform us of your decision by a clear statement (e.g., an email to support@stelae.eu). You may use the model withdrawal form below, but it is not obligatory.

To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning the exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.

Effects of withdrawal

If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse all payments received from you without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which we are informed of your decision to withdraw. We will use the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.

If you requested to begin the performance of the service during the withdrawal period, you shall pay us an amount proportional to what has been provided until you communicated your withdrawal, in comparison with the full coverage of the contract.

6. Service limits

Each site is subject to the following limits:

• Editor uptime: 20 hours per day maximum
• Idle timeout: editor stops after 60 minutes of inactivity, restarts on next visit
• Disk quota: 2048 MB per site
• Daily bandwidth: 500 MB per site
• Memory: 256m per container
• Static export rate: 450 exports per month (shared across all sites)

We may adjust limits with reasonable notice. Limits exist to keep the service affordable for everyone.

7. Acceptable use

You may not use the service to:

• Host or distribute illegal content under German or EU law
• Send spam or bulk communications
• Run cryptocurrency miners, bots, or other resource-intensive processes
• Attack or probe other systems from within the editor
• Circumvent resource limits or container isolation
• Resell the service without written permission

Violation may result in immediate account suspension without refund.

8. Your content

You retain all rights to content you create. We do not access, use, or share your content except as necessary to provide the service (hosting, backups, debugging). We do not serve ads or monetize your content.

9. Availability and support

• We aim for reasonable uptime but do not guarantee a specific SLA.
• Scheduled maintenance may cause brief downtime.
• Support covers the Stelae platform (export failures, container issues, deploy problems). WordPress usage support (themes, plugins, configuration) is not included.
• During beta, we may provide additional support at our discretion.

10. Data and backups

We make daily backups for disaster recovery. These backups are not a guaranteed data preservation service. You are responsible for exporting your own content regularly.

11. Termination

• You may delete your account at any time from the account settings page.
• We may terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practical.
• On termination, your data is deleted within 30 days (except billing records retained per tax law).
• No refunds for unused time on the current billing period, except where the right of withdrawal (§ 5) applies.
• If we discontinue the service entirely, we will provide at least 90 days’ notice. During that period, all your data — static exports, WordPress content, database, and uploaded files — will remain available for download so you can migrate away.

12. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the fees you paid in the last 12 months. We are not liable for data loss, downtime, or any indirect damages. This does not affect liability for intent or gross negligence, or mandatory statutory liability.

13. Changes to terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced via email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. If you are a consumer in the EU, you additionally benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
